happy new year

hope it’s still not too late to write a post of happy new year. today is the last day of january and is the first day of chinese new year, so the year is still considered new 🙂

looking back at 2013, it was not so good a year for me, it was the worst year ever i may say, but thanks god it also went by pretty fast. may i have the courage to write about it someday here in this blog.

last year we celebrated chinese new year in my hometown in bintan, it was delightful. i do not really celebrate chinese new year here in norway. i remember i did make some dishes that we usually have on the new year’s eve on my first chinese new year here.. yeah, only in that particular year.

since ms k is bigger now.. i want to start the tradition of celebrating chinese new year again. so last night i made butter shrimp spaghetti for our dinner. this is ms k’s favorite dish and of course noodles for longevity 🙂 it’s very easy to prepare and taste so good. all you need is some chopped garlic, shrimps, cooked spaghetti, butter for frying, salt and pepper to taste.

i also made some pineapple tarts, a must have on chinese new year. i have invited some chinese friends over for lunch tomorrow and i intended to cook some indonesian food for them to try.

starting from this year, i’m giving up red meat, finally.. this was something i wanted to do for a long time but kept postponing it. chicken or poultry would be my next. giving up red meat was not as hard as i thought it would be. maybe becouse i’m not a meat lover to begin with, i’m more a fish lover 🙂

wishing everyone a wonderful year ahead and may this new year brings us great health, good fortunes, much love and joys.
